Endurance Is…

It is 3 days after Dean has finished running 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 consecutive days. And what did he do? He decided to run home from his hotel in New York. Keep in mind, Dean lives in San Francisco! Why? Because he feels like it’s the right thing to do.

Since running with Dean, my life has been changed. I understand myself a little better and the words ‘I can’t’ have left my vocabulary. I have decided to do put my entire heart into training to qualify for Western States. My diet has changed – I have eliminated refined sugars, saturated fat and white flour (although I cheat once a week!). My exercise has changed. I began to practice Bikram yoga 5 nights a week to work on my flexibility, strength and to heal my hip injury. I am still able to run in the mornings, but not at full speed. Unfortunately, because of that, I have had to put my first ultra on hold. But I did manage to run a half marathon last weekend with Kipp, carrying a boom box blasting 80s music and dressed in 80s attire! There really wasn’t a REASON. I guess it just seemed like the right thing to do.

So now, I select my first 50 miler and I go for it! I don’t know why or really how just yet, I just feel like it’s the right thing to do.
