You don’t always get what you want

In the midst of a busy week and an almost unbearable absense from running, the person entered my life that would give me the encouragement I desperately needed. At Western States, each runner is allowed a pacer for the last 30 miles of the run. The pacer helps them find their way down the trail, makes sure that they are safe, and most importantly provides encouragement and companionship to the runner. This week, I was asked to be a pacer.

It’s exciting to know that the first step in my dream to run Western States is being taken. Ironically it happens on a week that I had to take a step back from running and focus on healing. But the road bump that I face right now is small in comparison to the things I know I am about to accomplish.
